DEEP PROGRAM
The Eastern New York Coalition of Automotive Retailers, Inc., in an effort to reduce workplace injuries, promote the health and safety of dealership employees, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, has developed a comprehensive program for all dealer members, included in your dues, which involves:
-
We will complete one program evaluation by phone and/or on-site to review your written programs and recordkeeping, and one unannounced, on-site dealership evaluation to thoroughly check your compliance with OSHA and *other regulations. This dealership evaluation will be comprehensive and may last several hours. On-site training will be provided as needed in relation to the results of the evaluations. We will also check for compliance with a variety of other laws and regulations, unrelated to OSHA.
-
Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Emergency Action, Lockout-Tagout, Back Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), are all topics required by law. The programs in our manual also include storage tank requirements, bloodborne pathogens, office safety and a hazardous materials program.
-
We offer frequent classes at rotating locations, to train employees on the above modules. We utilize in-house instructors, several videos, quizzes for each module and conduct demonstrations where appropriate. We also offer special training sessions for supervisors annually. We provide you with new employee safety orientation training materials. On an “as needed” basis, we will schedule additional training for dealership management or staff.
-
We research new issues or solutions to problems for our dealers. The ENYCAR office will handle several hundred calls during the year.
-
If OSHA arrives on a dealer’s doorstep, you can call us. We’ll review the process with the dealership, walk through the inspection, recommend abatement measures, and help negotiate a possible reduction in fines in the informal conference, or other options, if needed. Email Bulletins on Inspection Activity.
-
We have over thirty years of safety, health and environmental experience with auto dealers. The current staff has attended “Train the Trainer” programs with environmental consulting firms, the OSHA “Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry,” as well as various seminars and workshops. We have also trained three other dealer associations, so that they could provide similar services to their members.
-
We have made a substantial investment in the technical updating of our manuals by environmental consulting firms and continue to review the written programs and inspection materials for necessary updating. We have offered the SDS Vault Program (at a modest additional charge) to help you manage your Hazard Communications program and strongly recommend that you use this program.
The Association is very proud of our commitment to maintaining safe workplaces and educating employees to work safely. This can only reduce injuries, workers’ compensation claims, morale, turnover, and attract new workers.
*Please note that the scope of this program is primarily OSHA regulations, with some EPA, DEC, and other agency regulations. It does not include county, town, or other local rules or regulations, nor does it provide coverage of other federal or state regulations to the same extent that OSHA requirements are addressed. We do provide other checklists or self-audits from time to time on other areas of regulation.
